About Jayne

With 6 years of teaching and professional performance experience, I am a passionate violin tutor committed to helping students develop technical skill, artistic expression, and self-confidence. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners discovering foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.

One of the highlights of my career has been seeing students grow from struggling with posture, technique, or stage confidence to confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and expressive musicality.

My teaching emphasizes building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a holistic and well-rounded understanding of music.

Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where students feel encouraged to explore, express themselves, and achieve their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to nurture confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music.

About the lesson

I teach violin with a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to nurture technically proficient, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are structured yet flexible, blending technical exercises with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation tailored to each student’s learning style.

Motivation is central. I help students define meaningful goals, track their progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and a love for music. Students learn to embrace challenges and approach practice with enthusiasm.

Communication ensures lessons are collaborative and interactive. Students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing challenges, and exploring ideas freely, building trust and engagement.

Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to develop their personal artistic voice and strengthen their emotional connection to music. Integrity reinforces disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, cultivating habits that promote long-term excellence.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, providing students with a well-rounded foundation in musicianship that supports technical mastery and artistic growth.
