About Sophie

I’m a First Class Honours graduate with a B.A. in Applied Languages from the University of Limerick, where I studied Irish, Spanish, German, and Linguistics. I am also currently studying a masters in translation.

I’ve had a love for languages from a young age and really enjoy helping others learn, gain clarity, and build confidence in their abilities.

I’ve been speaking Irish since I was four years old and am fluent in the language. As part of my bachelor's degree, I completed a co-op placement in an Irish-speaking secondary school, where I worked as a classroom assistant through both Irish and Spanish. I’ve also been providing grinds for about a year now.

My main goal is that students feel confident, supported, and see clear progress in their Irish. I aim to help learners regain their confidence and develop a genuine appreciation for the language.

About the lesson

Irish grinds are tailored to each student’s needs, with support provided in any areas they find challenging.

You decide what we focus on — whether that’s grammar, essay writing, oral practice, or a combination of all skills.

I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Languages in August 2024. I also have six months of experience working as a classroom assistant in an Irish-speaking secondary school, along with a year of experience tutoring Irish.

I offer Junior and Leaving Cert grinds for secondary school students from beginner's levels to 6th year of secondary school. Lessons are one hour long.

Excellent! The lessons are fun and interactive and she always makes sure you understand what she's doing. She doesn't outright tell you the answer but gives you clues to it if you don't know the answer.

Perfect! Sophie is very well organized and professional tutor. She prepares very detailed and structured presentation slides which was based on my son’s Irish text books and also what my son will requires before each lesson. Even with the first free lesson, she ensured my son learned almost every minute of it. Each lesson afterwards my son will say” mom I learned a lot today with Sophie!” Myself know nothing about Irish, so I couldn’t comment on much, but from what my son tells me and I know he achieves from each lesson with Sophie. We just want to say thanks very much for your help ️️
