About Lyam

Having grown up in Switzerland, I have been passionate about soccer since I was young. I had the chance to travel a lot thanks to this sport and to have teammates coming from all over the world which allowed me to discover other languages and cultures. These values of sharing allow me to adapt to all types of students regardless of their background in a non-judgmental setting. I like to be disciplined and diligent in my work and like to take time out of my lessons to perfect my work and make the sessions effective.

About the lesson

My teaching method consists of sections that can be chosen by the student: - A course that focused on the ability to speak the language in a real-life setting such as a trip or school exchange. Or a course focused on the theoretical aspect of the French language, as requested by many students needing support for French courses. My method for the first section is to expose the student to realistic situations in which he/she is most likely to find himself/herself in a foreign country, such as everyday conversations or more formal dialogues. The second phase consists in focusing on how to understand and integrate the principles of the French language as well as its exceptions. - A typical lesson would be to put the student in a situation that he or she would encounter in a country that speaks French. The first dialogue would simulate arriving at the airport and the different ways of communicating with public employees in general. Then, we will move on to more informal situations in order to be able to maintain conversations and especially on common and most used vocabulary. For example, a dialogue situation between two students about the activities planned for the weekend. - During my two years as a tutor, I have received a lot of feedback that has allowed me to improve the methods that work best and to adapt my teaching style. What allows me to reach my students' goals is often the implementation of short and long-term goals. I also believe that creating a pleasant, stress-free environment allows for better integration of the language. I also believe that the fact that I have lived for almost 20 years in a French-speaking country allows me to know the subtleties of the current language and to teach them. - My lessons are adapted to all levels and ages (Middle school, High School, College).
