About Rowan

As a Piano tutor with 14+ years of experience, I teach school students, college students, and working professionals. I believe music education should be practical, positive, and connected to each student's personal goals.

I start by understanding the learner's current piano level, interests, goals, learning preferences, and practice schedule. This helps me plan lessons that match their abilities and allow them to progress at a comfortable pace.

I teach piano fundamentals, finger technique, scales, chords, rhythm, music theory, note reading, sight-reading, ear training, song learning, improvisation, and performance preparation.

I use clear explanations, demonstrations, guided practice, and practical examples. I encourage students to understand the reason behind each exercise rather than simply memorizing information.

My teaching philosophy is based on patience, communication, flexibility, understanding, and motivation. I believe students should feel comfortable making mistakes because mistakes can show us where improvement is needed.

I also focus on building good practice habits. I teach students how to manage their time, set short-term goals, focus on challenging sections, and practice consistently.

A notable achievement from my 14+ years of teaching is gaining experience with learners from school, college, and professional backgrounds. This has helped me understand different learning requirements and adapt my lessons effectively.

My goal is to help students become confident piano players who can understand music and continue learning independently. Whether you are a beginner or already have experience, I provide personalized lessons that focus on your goals and progress.

About the lesson

My piano teaching methodology is built around Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe students learn more effectively when they actively participate in their musical education.

I begin by understanding the student's piano experience, learning style, interests, and goals. I then plan lessons that include technical exercises, music theory, practical playing, and suitable songs.

Students develop skills in posture, hand coordination, finger control, note reading, rhythm, scales, chords, sight-reading, ear training, and musical expression. I use demonstrations, visual guidance, listening activities, written examples, repetition, and hands-on practice.

I adapt my teaching whenever students need a different explanation. Difficult concepts are divided into simple steps so learners can understand them and apply them at the piano.

My flexible approach allows me to adjust the lesson pace according to progress. I provide extra practice when needed and introduce new challenges when students are ready.

Collaboration is central to my teaching. I encourage students to participate in selecting music, discussing difficulties, setting goals, and reviewing their progress. This helps them become more responsible for their own learning.

I maintain a positive atmosphere where students can ask questions, experiment, and make mistakes without fear. I provide encouraging feedback and focus on continuous improvement.

Besides piano, I can teach music theory, keyboard skills, rhythm, chords, sight-reading, ear training, basic composition, and music appreciation. My goal is to make piano lessons interactive, practical, and enjoyable.
