About Mark

I find creative aspects in all areas of human endeavour: particularly in developing relationships with people at all levels: professional and personal. Teaching and learning is an enriching thread and an essential and exciting part of human experience and the human condition. I thrive on a challenge, when taking on the culture of other lands! and this has been reflected in my experience especially when interacting with the cultures of other lands! stories and games which are appropriate to the classroom: these have contributed to a repertoire of techniques I can use in wider fields of life.; these are all qualities I have learned to draw on and develop through teaching. As an individual I consider myself creative, an effective communicator and organiser, quixotic, (I don’t give up easily) tenacious, highly perceptive and empathic. I have learned to draw on these qualities as I have progressed through my life as a student, manager, and educator: being innovative is something I have learned to trust in especially in an environment where one has to think on one’s feet. I have worked with individuals with learning difficulties and personality disorder, again using my abilities in a creative field, but as therapeutic activity in order to improve their self-esteem. I did this by assigning roles to them in teams, providing challenges and achievable goals, giving opportunities to feel self-worth through achievement and praise, and breaking down these challenges into manageable blocks so that individuals or groups did not feel daunted by tasks or goals, and in many ways this was highly successful, with students responding well to encouragement. I also try to encourage an ambitious and exciting vision where students find their own vision of the world and build on this.

About the lesson

My teaching is student-centred and focusing on skills development and context. I have a degree, PGCE and CELTA and have extensive experience including British schools, colleges, online teaching, plus international university and school in China, where I made the most of every opportunity to explore the culture and society of an extraordinary land. I have completed 120 hours of training and six hours in eight sessions of English Language teaching for students from overseas, and have created a body of resources to help with this. I have had my courses and teaching internally and externally verified and assessed in the UK and overseas, by British and international colleagues always with "good" as the overall mark and feedback which identifies areas as "outstanding" or "excellent." I can teach all age levels from Key Stage Three to post-16 and adult and my lessons are normally 45-60 minutes. I offer Literacy, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening all centred around your needs plus help with dissertations.

I really like his course for his interesting slides with worldwide beloved popular elements such as Pink Floyd. And he loves to communicate with students, wether the topic is about study, bands, animations, or even Cthulhu mythos! He is an excellent tutor and he’s my favourite during my foundation year of university.
