About Isabella

Hi! I'm Isabella. I'm a British graduate of Princeton University with over 4 years of teaching experience. In the past three years I've worked on an English as a second language platform, and at DePaul University in Chicago as an essay and academic tutor. Before then, I held positions as a teaching assistant in the Art History department at Princeton University, and worked in a private secondary school in the UK. My qualifications: 1. English as foreign language tutor (3 years) 2. Academic Essay Tutor at DePaul University, Chicago (1 year) 2. Peer arts adviser at Princeton University (1 year) 3. Assistant teacher at London secondary school (2 months) 5. Teaching Assistant at Princeton (2 years) My results: - GCSE: 9A* History, English lang, English lit, Double Science, Maths, Art, German, ICT. - A Levels: 2 A* History and Fine Art, 1 A English - Princeton University Art & Archaeology 3.8 GPA, Honours - Masters Degree in Interactive Media, Elon University, 2024. I particularly enjoy working with students to improve their language and phrasing when it comes to selling themselves as applicants, whether it be UCAS or Common App (or even an internship application!). I love the art of weaving a story which reflects your individual story. From working behind the scenes at Universities, I know what applicant teams are looking for in admitting students. For students looking for a tutor with an arts background, I'm the perfect fit for your needs. I was a Fine Art major at Princeton, and completed a masters degree in Interactive Media. If you are a student with a UX/Design/Fine Art background, I can help and assist you with your portfolio as well as provide tips for your essay. I competed internationally as a young athlete in Track & Field, having represented Great Britain on a year off before enrolling at Princeton. In this year I worked part time, as well as worked on all the ins-and-outs of the US college application process. I had applied through UCAS the previous year, but decided to decline my spot once I set my eyes on moving to the US. Through this experience I recognised how difficult it can be to navigate the application process, as well as really find a University or school that allows you to fulfil your personal goals. I'm passionate about working with students! I'll be excited to share advice from my journey, and help with everything essay or college related.

About the lesson

COMMON APP / UCAS PERSONAL ESSAY: I applied through both UCAS and Common App back in 2017 and received offers from all of my applications. I decided to take my education to the US and attend Princeton University. I also worked at DePaul University as an academic adviser for student athletes. It's a passion of mine to work with students on their goals and: 1. Find the right University for their needs 2. Work through their passions and personal experiences to build a strong application. 3. Make sure the application is clear and professional. ESSAY BUILDING: I love to instil confidence in my students when it comes to writing essays. I am happy to work on paraphrasing, proofreading and improvements to essays, and teach my students how to identify these changes outside of my intervention. ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: For the past 3 years I've worked as an English as a foreign language tutor. In particular I have worked with students from Korea. I am patient, careful and experienced when it comes to paraphrasing and correcting spoken English. ARTS PORTFOLIO: I was an Art major at Princeton and applied for arts foundation courses in the UK before my degree. I am happy to take requests in helping students navigate their journey in the arts, whether this be theatre or fine art. I can help build your portfolio.
