About Dylan
As an undergraduate Mathematics student at UCL, I have a genuine passion for the subject and a strong belief that, with the right guidance, any student can succeed in mathematics — regardless of the barriers they may feel.
I believe that real enjoyment in maths comes from understanding. Rather than treating it as a subject of memorisation and repetition, I encourage students to approach it through critical thinking and problem-solving. As confidence and understanding grow, so does motivation — which naturally leads to stronger exam performance.
I also aim to reshape how students view their own ability. Many believe that others can simply “see” solutions instantly, when in reality this usually comes from experience — recognising patterns and applying familiar ideas in new contexts. By helping students build this skill, I make maths feel far more accessible and less intimidating.
This approach worked for me, resulting in my 9 in GCSE and A* in A-level Maths and Further Maths.

I tutor Maths to UK secondary students, including for GCSE and A-level with a strong focus on achieving top exam results.
My teaching is highly flexible and tailored to each student’s ability and attitude towards maths. Alongside practising exam-style questions, I help students develop a strong 'toolbox' of problem-solving techniques, so they can approach unfamiliar questions with confidence rather than relying on repetition.
At the start, I use a diagnostic paper I’ve created to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses. Lessons are then targeted to address gaps efficiently, with regular use of past papers and structured problem sheets to track progress.
I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique — including how to pick up marks even when a full solution isn’t clear, and how to understand what examiners are looking for.
