About Vikeraman

I hold a Master's in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) and a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology (B.E Biotech). Worked in NIMHANS (JRF) as a structural Biologist. Currently pursuing PhD in the field of Structural Biology in Germany. Apart from studies I am a novice photographer

About the lesson

Perfect! Vikeraman was patient in understanding my needs and helpful along the way once he understood it. He broke down complex concepts in Sequencing and took as much time to explain a concept as needed. Along with being knowledgeable in his field he is also quite humorous and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend and take Bioinformatics classes again!

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
My subject deals with the intricacies of protein interaction with various macromolecules and drug targets. My interest in this field is because of the curiosity to know more about what occurs in the human body that causes a variety of diseases.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
My motivation behind teaching is the basic interest to educate the upcoming generations about the same.
How does your work help society?
It helps in the development of new drugs which will help in the diagnosis and curing of diseases. Discover newer drug targets.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
My role model would be G N Ramachandran, who developed the Ramachandran plot in 1963 and is still actively used in the field of Structural Biology.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
My hobbies would be Photography, Travelling, reading novels and Scientific papers, and Playing indoor and outdoor games.
