About Kaung Myat

I’d say yes—because everything I do today is built on what I’ve fought through to become who I am. I’m a certified coach through the International Sport Science Academy, a senior-year Communication & Political Science major at CSULB, and an experienced martial artist. I still love action films and strategy games like Zero Hour. Always have. But growing up? I wasn’t always understood. I was the “black sheep” in a very traditional household. My family came from a conservative background, and when I broke the rules—when I chose boxing classes over piano lessons—it wasn’t accepted. No one really asked why I connected so deeply with martial arts movies or war games. They just saw rebellion. But for me, martial arts wasn't just about punching bags. It was about discipline, healing, identity. It helped me process life when nothing else did. The real me? Kind. Understanding. Helpful. Not just because that’s who I am—but because I know what it feels like to not be heard, not be supported. That’s why I lead by example today. Oh—and: "Bonjour, je m'appelle Chris. Enchanté. À bientôt." (Oui, je 'parle français. :)

About the lesson

Ali—light on his feet, dancing with rhythm, striking with flow. Mayweather is a defensive genius and master counter-puncher. Bivol is quick, calculated, and lethal with that 1–2 combo. Give me just one free hour to train with you, and I’ll help you unlock strength you didn’t know you had. Male or female fighters—it doesn’t matter. I train across styles, adapt what works, and tailor it to your pace. We can meet at the open bag training room at CSULB on Tuesdays or Fridays. Tuesday. Bagwork, Steps, Distance measuring, agility, and flexibility. Fridays: Pad/Conditioning. Talk to me; We can see how it works for you. Kaung Myat was an amazing teacher when I was learning how to drive in the States. I previously got my driver license in Malaysia but driving in California was so different. Therefore, he was able to guide me on the rules and regulations here in California. He was very patient with me and didn’t get stressed out when I would make mistakes. He felt very safe and would guide me to look for certain pointers at each intersection. I was able to pass my driving test in Pasadena, which is supposedly one of the difficult DMV centers, on my first try thanks to him. I highly recommend him!
