About Molly
French is part of a six-year tutoring career during which I have taught 240 students, many of them adults nervous about learning a language later in life. My own connection to French developed through personal study combined with a strong interest in making language learning feel approachable rather than intimidating. I would describe myself as an unusually patient and gentle tutor, a reputation I am proud of, since several students have specifically sought me out after struggling with more intense tutors previously. My greatest strength lies in reading a student's anxiety early and adjusting my pace accordingly rather than pushing through regardless. Watching a nervous beginner move from hesitant, anxious speech to relaxed, confident conversation remains the achievement I am proudest of.

My French lessons move at a genuinely gentle pace, prioritising comfortable conversational confidence over rapid coverage of grammar, since rushed early habits tend to create lasting anxiety about speaking. I begin every new tutoring relationship with an honest conversation about any previous negative experiences with language learning, since addressing that history upfront makes the actual learning process go far more smoothly. I check in verbally throughout every lesson, asking students to rate their own comfort level honestly, and I slow down immediately whenever anxiety appears. Topics are chosen collaboratively, prioritising subjects students genuinely enjoy discussing over a rigid grammar curriculum. Parents or students receive a short, plain language progress update after each session, written without technical jargon.
