About Jake
I am a first-year PhD student at the University of Cambridge studying Cell Biology. I am based at the world-leading Babraham Institute where I am studying the role that a process called non-canonical autophagy (or CASM) plays in the repair of damaged organelles called lysosomes. I am incredibly passionate about my project and Biology in general and I think it is the best job in the world!
I have a first-class honours degree in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science degree with Distinction from the University of East Anglia. I have also spent two years between my MSc and my PhD working as a Biomedical Scientist in a clinical NHS laboratory specialising in Blood Sciences.

I am incredibly passionate about Biology and my teaching methodology centres around using this passion to break down complex topics into small, bite-sized pieces that we can build up together to form the complete picture. The typical length of my lesson would be 1 hour. I regularly teach A-Level standard and GCSE level Biology as part of The Brilliant Club' Scholars Programme and as part of the MyTutor platform. My lessons are extremely adaptable and because of my experience and knowledge my lessons are for any age and level from KS3 all the way up to Masters level.
