About Sabrina
I'm a PhD candidate in Biology at the University of Cambridge on the prestigious Gates Cambridge scholarship. Before starting my PhD, I worked as a Research Assistant at Harvard, and I completed my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Boston University graduating magna cum laude with highest honors. I've been tutoring for over a decade, working with middle school, high school, and college students in one-on-one settings, as well as through experience as a teaching assistant and mentor.
I care deeply about the students I work with, and I try to bring the same curiosity that drew me into research into every lesson — helping students see biology as a way of thinking, not just a list of facts to memorize. I'm patient, reliable, and easy to reach with questions between sessions, and I take the time to understand each student's specific challenges rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

My approach starts with figuring out exactly where a student is losing marks — a content gap, a misreading of how AP questions are phrased, or difficulty structuring a strong free-response answer — before building a plan around it. A typical lesson works through the relevant unit content first, then moves into applying it: past FRQs, data-analysis questions, and the kind of reasoning the AP exam actually tests, not just recall. I draw on my own research background as a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge to help students think like scientists rather than memorize facts, which tends to make the material stick and shows up in stronger performance on the exam's more analytical sections.
I work with high school students taking AP Biology, whether they're maintaining a strong grade through the year or doing focused review ahead of the exam. I adapt pace and material to each student's specific gaps and goals rather than teaching a fixed curriculum, and I offer a free introductory session where I go through a student's most recent test with them to identify exactly where the marks are going before we begin working together.
