About Moya

I read English at Cambridge and graduated in 2012. Subsequently, I went studied part time and achieved a Distinction in Creative Writing from Cambridge. My specialist subject is English and I have extensive experience of teaching GCSE, A Level and Degree level.

Studying English at Cambridge means that I have an excellent understanding of my specialist subject. I have a comprehensive knowledge of literature from medieval to present day - I love literature, art, and the humanities and enjoy working with tutees across different age groups to engage and inspire them in these fields. I have a good knowledge of the current curriculum and a track record of working with students at a range of levels to achieve success in their exams.

A recent review is as follows: "Moya is everything you want in a tutor - and more. In a very short space of time she brought structure, understanding, great tips, enthusiasm and clarity to our son who says her input was invaluable. Moya is fun, very smart, focussed and went beyond the job descri ption in order to help our son. While too early to know our son`s results, there is no doubt that Moya`s tuition will have boosted those grades. What a find!"

I am a determined, confident and flexible tutor. I am always ready to tailor my lessons to individual students` needs in order to achieve excellent results. My creative approach and enthusiasm for learning means that lessons are accessible and interesting. Not only do I aim to achieve better results, but I also seek to improve students all-round enjoyment of and confidence with their subject by introducing them to other texts or subjects that may cultivate their interest.

I have outstanding interpersonal skills and am extremely approachable, as a result my students are always encouraged to ask questions if they don`t understand. I motivate my students by planning lessons effectively and implementing clear objectives, ensuring that they leave each lesson with a deeper understanding than when they came.

I was Moya’s tutor when she studied for a Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. This is a highly competitive programme and Moya did exceptionally well to earn a place on the course. She achieved high marks in both years and graduated with a distinction.

The Masters is a part-time programme and Moya completed it while working in a full-time, demanding job. This is a significant achievement.

I have known Moya for three years and always found her to be trustworthy and hard-working. She is very easy to talk to and I imagine would be an enthusiastic and creative tutor. As well as her knowledge of English Literature, she has a keen interest in Art.
