About Laura
Hello,
My name is Laura Kay and I'm currently a medical student (graduate-entry) at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge. I've joined the university as an older student, having previously gained a PhD through my work in biomolecular research.
I have been teaching biology since 2012 and also have a certificate in teaching EFL ('English as a Foreign Language'), with over 1000 hours of teaching completed online. Additionally, I have experience in tutoring students through the medical school application process. I can be particularly helpful when it comes to applying to Cambridge (especially the graduate-entry course!), but also have plenty of advice to give regarding UKCAT, personal statements and the application process as a whole.
I've been described as warm, friendly and approachable. I also like to tailor my sessions to my tutees, strongly feeling that teaching style and resources should be individualised to fit the needs of each student. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you think I may be able to help.
