About Arianna

Hi! My name's Arianna, and I'm an 18 year old student at the University of Cambridge, currently working on an English Literature degree.

I know firsthand how difficult navigating exam years can be! Balancing the many subjects you take at and before GCSE is a lot to handle; but it's also a really useful time before A-Levels to practice your exam technique and experiment with different revision strategies - and that's what I can help with.

We'd be able to work together on any areas you've struggled with until you feel comfortable with them, breaking things down in more detail than you're maybe able to in class. I'm also very happy to help with any issues or worries you have about exams and revision - having survived several exam seasons myself, I know some strategies that have really helped me over the years!

Through such strategies, I've personally been academically successful; and combining those with my previous experience working with kids, I feel confident in being able to help you make it through your exams with grades you'll be proud of; and even to end up enjoying English (it's really not that bad, I promise!).

About the lesson

My Lessons:

I would offer typically hour-long sessions designed to boost your confidence in English. I would want you to feel comfortable and happy around me and in my lessons; it's an opportunity for you to get one-to-one support and ask any questions that they might not be able to in their school classes.

Depending on your needs, we would target our approach.
For instance, we could together work though any Literature exam texts you're currently struggling with; studying them on both a close analysis level, and looking at their wider contexts. Alternatively, we could focus on unseen or general analysis skills, where I would supply materials, and we would work on techniques for breaking down a text and finding interesting points of access to it.
If the focus is more on English Language, we would equally be able to tackle exam papers from your board; working on the various strategies and skills that each style of question requires, and ensuring you're happy with what I know can be quite a time-challenged exam.

Essay writing is then of course a huge part of the subject - and one I know can be quite overwhelming sometimes. However, having lots of experience in it myself, I've personally developed many strategies and techniques for tackling it. We would be able to work on your writing style, structure, timing techniques; these are all things that, once properly managed, make essays so much easier to handle, and you'll be surprised how quickly they can take them to the next level!

I also understand the importance of good revision techniques; and having been successful in both my GCSEs and A-Level exams, I would be very excited to share any tips and tricks I've learnt over the years in time management and memorising strategies.

My Qualifications:

I'm currently studying a degree at Cambridge in English Literature (predicted a 1st).
I've achieved straight A*s at both GCSE and A-Level (including English at both stages).

I have longstanding nannying and babysitting experience, during which I have often helped the kids with homework - and I also have a younger sister who I am currently helping through her GCSEs.
