About Elena
I am a Cambridge-trained language teacher with over 10 years’ experience in higher education and private tutoring. I hold an MPhil in Education from the University of Cambridge, a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics from the University of Nottingham, degrees in Journalism and Language Teaching from Lomonosov Moscow State University, CELTA and advanced methodology training (IH CAM).
Before moving to the UK, I taught languages at Lomonosov Moscow State University, working with students from different countries, backgrounds and levels. My background in journalism, media studies and film studies makes my lessons lively, thoughtful and far from mechanical: I use authentic materials, film and book extracts, interviews and real cultural contexts to make Russian meaningful and memorable.
I teach because I believe languages open doors — to study, to work, to travel, to communicate, to laugh, to love.

Hi guys! I would be very happy to see you in class and help you understand Russian clearly, naturally, and confidently.
My lessons are structured, practical and highly personalised. From the first class, we identify your goals, level, strengths and areas for improvement, then build a clear route forward — whether you want to start from zero, improve your speaking, finally understand Russian grammar, prepare for an exam, or reconnect with the language as a heritage speaker.
A typical lesson usually lasts 60 or 90 minutes and includes speaking practice, focused grammar, pronunciation work, vocabulary building and carefully chosen authentic materials. I explain grammar clearly and logically, but we do not stop at rules: you will practise using new language in conversation, short dialogues, improv role plays, guided discussion, reading, listening and writing tasks.
