About Jiayuan

Hi there! I am an incoming B.A. History student at the University of Cambridge and a former Government Bilingual Scholar under the Ministry of Education. I have always loved languages, and my mission as a tutor is to make the learning journey truly fulfilling!

My Academic Background:
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Higher Chinese: Achieved a top A1 grade with an overall Distinction in Oral.
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Levels: Secured a straight 'A' in H2 China Studies in Chinese (CSC).
- Published Researcher: My advanced essay writing and research in Mandarin won an official award from the Ministry of Education and was published in the MOE-BSP Research Journal.

My Tutoring Experience:
My coaching is highly focused and empathetic. I currently manage a selective private cohort of Primary 6 (PSLE preparation) and Secondary 4 (O-Level preparation) students, generating $800/week in tuition value.

Having recently graduated from this rigorous academic track myself, I have a firsthand mastery of exam marking rubrics. I don't just lecture; I walk alongside my students as a mentor, helping them build true confidence in Chinese and unlock their full potential!

About the lesson

Hi there! My teaching philosophy revolves around personalisation, rigorous long-term tracking, and transparent parent feedback. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all. Instead, I design data-driven lesson plans tailored specifically to your child’s strengths and weaknesses.

For instance, if a student struggles with composition writing, I pinpoint the exact root causes—whether it is a vocabulary deficit, or a lack of sophisticated phrasing. I then target these gaps using structured spelling tests and essay frameworks.

Lessons are for Primary to A-Level students. Backed by my training in Singapore's rigorous bilingual system, I prepare international students for GCSE/IGCSE, IB tracks, and Singapore MOE exams.

Sessions typically run for 1.5 hours, though this can be adjusted based on the student's age and attention span.

Every lesson is paired with transparent, detailed parent updates. Parents are welcome to sit in for the lessons.
