About Laia

I have a Bachelor degree in History and two Masters : one in World History and another in Food History. I spent a year at Oxford Unviersity as a Junior visiting researcher before starting my PhD in History at Cambridge University, which I am about to finish.

I strive to provide students with the theoretical, emotional, and practical support to achieve their academic goals and become influential historians.

I have worked as a part-time tutor since 2010 while pursuing my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. I have taught students at various levels, ranging from high-schoolers to postgraduates. In addition to teaching history, I have also provided tutoring in English, Spanish, and Humanities. Furthermore, over the last three years, I have assisted students with Oxbridge undergraduate and Master's applications.

My teaching methodology is underpinned by the firm believe that learning history requires training your mind to connect facts, think critically about how history has been written by other historians, and work out how your personal interests and points of view may contribute to the field.

About the lesson

I help History students train their mind to connect facts, think critically about how history has been written by other historians, and find effective ways to express their points of view.

Besides imparting knowledge, I also make sure to help the students learn transferable skills such as critical thinking, note-taking, referencing, and essay planning.

I understand that most students are overwhelmed with meeting deadlines and workload. Therefore, I always try to reply fast to their messages, be flexible with class scheduling, review or edit their work promptly, and be personable.
