About Masih

Hi there! I'm Masih, a Canadian college professor with 13 years of experience teaching English and three degrees from top Canadian universities. I was born and raised in Toronto, but my passion for language and culture has taken me around the world—from Austria and Germany to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. I love helping students build their confidence and reach their goals, and I’m excited to be part of your learning journey!

I've been teaching ESL, English test prep, and academic writing since 2012, working with students of all ages—from children and teenagers to adults—in Canada, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. I’ve taught beginner to advanced English courses at top Canadian universities and colleges, including the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Algonquin College, and La Cité College.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I developed an interest in teaching English as a Second Language during university, and realized that language teaching would allow me to live and work all over the world. In addition, I was fascinated by how language opened doors-not just academically, but socially and professionally. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for language education and cultural exchange.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Language is more than just grammar and vocabulary-it's about connection, opportunity, and identity. I'm passionate about helping students find their voice in English and watching their confidence grow as they reach their academic and immigration goals. Seeing their progress is incredibly rewarding.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I love the one-on-one connection tutoring allows. Every student has a unique story and learning style, and I enjoy customizing lessons to suit their needs-especially for IELTS and CELPIP prep, where small strategies can lead to big improvements. What makes me a "Superprof" is my ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, relatable way while keeping students motivated and supported throughout their journey.

Yes, one of my high school teachers, "Mr. P" inspired me deeply. He was a very passionate teacher who believed in teaching subjects but also life skills.

My keys to success are consistency, empathy, and adaptability. I always stay up to date with the latest test formats and educational strategies. I listen closely to students' goals and challenges, and I adjust my teaching style to help them get the most out of every lesson.
