About Cyril
My name is Cyril and I am an experienced English language teacher with over 10 years of experience. I am a CELTA certified, BC licensed teacher. I hold both undergraduate degree and graduate diploma in education. I have lived and taught English in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Having learned Korean, Mandarin and Arabic I also know what it is like to be a language learner.

My teaching methodology is based on the Cambridge teaching model (CELTA) which focuses on combining productive skills (speaking and writing) with receptive skills (reading and listening) that is dependent on realistic, everyday contexts.
I design lessons based on your needs, goals, and interests.
Context (situation) is key and I plan lessons accordingly. For instance, if you are interested in opening a bank account, we would explore vocabulary, grammar and applications like making requests. I like to use a practice, present, practice approach to my teaching style as I have found this most effective. In this case, we might start by having a conversation and then providing feedback before practicing again. It is a simple yet effective approach! So if we were practicing making a request to open a bank account, I might start by role playing the situation with you, present vocabulary and grammar feedback and then we would role play again. This is the Cambridge approach to learning English!
My lessons are designed for adults looking to improve their language skills, prepare for English language tests like IELTS, and enhance their quality of life.
