About Tareq

I'm Tareq and I'm a dual national British Egyptian. English is my native language and I'm also fluent in Egyptian Arabic. Thanks to my bilingual and multicultural upbringing, I've always had a love and appreciation for language and linguistics. I enjoy helping other people and transferring my own skills to them. When I'm not doing paid work, I volunteer at a charity that provides free community English lessons to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Language is the bridge that connects us all and I take great pride in working a profession that brings together different languages and cultures as I've always had to do growing up with two different countries.

About the lesson

I'm CELTA qualified and throughout my career, I've taught English at international schools in Cairo and given private lessons. I also volunteer at a charity teaching English to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. I've also worked in summer schools teaching various levels of English to teenagers from many countries. In previous education, I attained the most prestigious journalism qualification in the UK (the NCTJ diploma) which helped to vastly improve my writing skills and my ability to teach good writing. My approach to teaching is to find topics and subjects which are relevant and relatable to the student so they can learn through a context they enjoy and can engage with. I believe the best way to learn a language is through practical tasks the student will use in real life. I don't believe in forcing students through boring lessons at all. I don't believe in giving you the answers. I believe in giving you all the tools and skills you need to find the answer on your own. My job is to make you your own best teacher. This is the best method in turning a student from beginner to advanced!
