About James

With a foundation from Central St. Martins, a Post-graduate certificate in Art & design from the Institute of education (UCL) and 9 years of experience teaching in secondary schools in London , I bring a wealth of top-tier art education and practice to my students. I am a practising and exhibiting artist, I am skilled at guiding students through all aspects of Art & Design — from mastering key skills to preparing intricate portfolios and exhibitions.

I can offer regular feedback on the development of your artistic practice and share with you all my knowledge on contemporary art. I can also provide technical training in a variety of mediums and styles, particularly painting and drawing, along with digital art. I will help you to grow your personal style, giving you the necessary space to achieve it, as it's important that it comes from you.

I have experience teaching all ages and levels, from young children discovering art for the first time to A-level and GCSE students developing their practice. I love seeing my students grow and develop confidence in their skills and ability to express their own personal vision.

Comprehensive Support: From portfolio preparation and interview preparation for art school applications to technical skill development in painting, drawing & digital art. I can provide thorough guidance across all aspects of your artistic development. This includes hands-on help with personal statements and regular constructive feedback on your developing practice.  

What Sets Me Apart:  Passion and Commitment: I am deeply committed to the arts, not just as a educator but as a practitioner. My goal is to inspire and empower my students, nurturing both technical skills and creative expression/ thinking.
