About Lamar
I am a certified elementary educator with a master's degree in childhood education and 5+ years of experience teaching, coaching, and supporting students in K–4 school settings. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and prepared by making math clear, engaging, and approachable.

As an ELA/phonics tutor, I help K–4 students become stronger, more confident readers by building foundational skills, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
My approach is structured, engaging, and personalized. A typical lesson includes a quick reading or phonics check, direct instruction on one key skill, guided practice, independent reading or word work, and clear feedback so students know what they are doing well and what to practice next.
I use phonics routines, decoding strategies, read-alouds, writing connections, visuals, and student-friendly questioning to help students understand both how to read words and how to make meaning from texts.
What sets me apart is my experience as a certified elementary educator and school leader with 5+ years of experience supporting students in K–4 settings. I bring patience, structure, high expectations, and a data-driven approach to every lesson.
