About Joohe (Judy)

With over 22 years of experience in teaching Korean and Japanese, I have worked with private students, language academies, junior high schools, and major companies including Samsung, LG and Hitachi.

Teaching has always been my passion. Students often describe me as dedicated, well-prepared, responsible and patient. Are you looking to learn Korean in a fun and effective way? If so, you've come to the right place!

About the lesson

I customize each lesson to suit each student individually because everyone has their own learning goals and styles. Before we begin a lesson, we'll discuss your specific goals, preferences, preferred learning methods, and the aspects of Korean you are most interested in focusing on. You're welcome to request specific topics or areas of interest. This lesson is designed specifically for you.

I make use of a variety of resources such as textbooks, personalized materials, and engaging activities to ensure each student can learn the language at their own pace and level. If you have any preferred textbooks, you're more than welcome to bring them to our lessons.

During our lessons, you'll have plenty of opportunities to express yourself and practice speaking naturally and confidently.

Having a lesson with Grace was enjoyable. Her Korean skills are much higher than she realizes. She already knows many words and uses them effectively. It will be easier for her to improve her Korean if she focuses on how to construct sentences that she wants to express correctly and naturally. Our next step will be to develop longer and more complex phrases, once she gets used to them. Looking forward to our next lesson!

She is a great student who is eager to learn Korean. She knows a lot of Korean grammar and vocabulary. What she should do is to practice making sentences using the knowledge that she wants to say. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
My favorite thing to do is learn languages and explain things to other people. The ability to explain things clearly and simply is one of my strengths. These reasons have led me to pursue a degree in education and teacher training. Teaching languages has been my ideal profession for over 18 years since I graduated.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Language learning should be an enjoyable and fun experience. I want my students to experience the joy of speaking with native Koreans in Korean. Seeing my students' progress and hearing them speak Korean fluently with me is extremely rewarding to me. These experiences keep me motivated and enthusiastic about teaching Korean.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
With my teaching experience, I can quickly identify the most effective strategies for each student. The lesson plans I create are customized to meet each student's preferences and goals. For each student, I prepare different methods and materials, and I choose different teaching styles. The process requires time, but it is worth it, valuable, and fulfilling.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
During my working at a language school in Korea, teachers had regular meetings to share ideas and come up with more effective methods to improve classes. We also conducted class demonstrations for one another to receive feedback. I was greatly inspired by my supervisor as her classes consistently stood out as exceptional. There was a lot I learned from her. It was my goal to become a teacher like her. It is critical for me to assess myself continuously and ask myself if I am performing well in my classes.
What are your keys to success?
In my view, teachers are responsible for more than just teaching. I am constantly attentive to my students' progress and care about their learning journey. It is also important to me as a teacher to stay up to date on the latest teaching methods and materials. I actively participate in meetings to discuss these topics with other teachers.
