About Elisa
Hello! I'm Elisa, a multilingual and experienced language teacher passionate about helping students communicate with confidence.
I teach English, Portuguese, Spanish and Mandarin to learners from different ages, levels and cultural backgrounds. My teaching is friendly, supportive and personalized: I take the time to understand each student's goals and adapt my lessons to their needs.
I have professional qualifications including CELTA, TEFL and Advanced TESOL training, and I am currently completing an International Master of Teaching English at Saint Mary's University in Canada. My academic background also includes a Master's degree in Portuguese from FLUL, with a focus on Portuguese as a second/foreign language, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL).
I have extensive experience teaching students from around the world, including adults learning languages for everyday communication, professional purposes and personal development. As a multilingual teacher myself, I understand both the challenges and rewards of learning a new language.
My goal is to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and actively using the language from the very beginning.

My name is Elisa, and I am a multilingual language teacher and IMTE student at Saint Mary's University. I teach English, Portuguese, Spanish and Mandarin to learners from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
My teaching approach is student-centered, communicative and practical. I adapt each lesson to the learner's goals, level, interests and learning style. Rather than focusing only on grammar rules, I encourage students to use the language actively through conversation, guided practice, pronunciation work, vocabulary development, listening activities and real-life communication.
A typical lesson begins with a short review and warm-up, followed by the main language focus of the lesson. We then practice the target language through guided activities and conversation, before finishing with personalized feedback and a clear summary of what the student has learned. When appropriate, I also suggest practical ways to continue practicing between lessons.
What sets me apart is my academic background in language teaching and my multilingual and multicultural experience. I hold a CELTA, a Level 5 TEFL qualification and Advanced TESOL training, and I am currently completing the International Master of Teaching English (IMTE) at Saint Mary's University.
