About Josina
I received my bachelor's degree in Music Education from Duquesne University in 2019, since then I have held a TK-12 instrumental, choral, and general music teaching certificate in the state of Pennsylvania and California.
Since receiving my certificates and undergraduate degree, I taught 4th-8th grade beginning band to advanced band and 4th-5th grade general music for five years. During this time, I taught after-school private lessons for voice and wind instruments. After which, I have been teaching nursery and preschool music for the past 2 years.
I have been in choirs since I was 5 years old, playing instruments since I was 2 years old, and in band since middle school. Music truly is a universal language that develops the mind and body to grow exponentially. It teaches confidence, determination, and resilience.
My goal as a music educator is to help students to find confidence in their natural talents and abilities, and guide them into strong musicians. While they may not all choose a career in music, the skills learned in my classroom/studio stay with them for a lifetime, and these are the skills that make them successful young adults.

Throughout our time together, we will use various methods and books to grow your musicianship and confidence in your skills. These are dependent upon age, instrument, and learning style.
Wind instruments lesson: beginner to intermediate
Focus on embouchure development, breathing control, and proper articulation through a curated packet I developed while teaching beginning to advanced band (4th-8th grade). Alongside this packet, the standard of excellence and foundations for superior performance books are worked through with fun games and challenges to encourage younger students as the difficulty increases.
Voice lessons: beginner to advanced
Focus on breathing techniques, voice placement in the mask, tongue placement, and diction through the bel canto books, curated packets I developed while studying in Rome and teaching private voice lessons, as well as warm-up packets. Books utilized during lessons and repertoire selected will vary dependent upon student input, voice type, and genre of choice.
Early childhood classes:
Similar to mommy and me and music together classes, parent(s)/guardian(s) will join their little musicians in their environment, sounds, voices, and the world through body movement, instrument exploration, creative play, and catchy songs. We will learn shapes, colors, animals, social-emotional skills, motor skills and much more through our time together.
