About Anson

Hello! I'm a passionate piano educator with over 12 years of teaching experience, dedicated to helping students develop their musical potential and discover a lifelong love for music!

I hold a Bachelor of Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto (OISE)**. As an Ontario Certified Teacher with experience in both YRDSB and TDSB, I bring professional teaching expertise, creativity, and a student-centered approach to every lesson.

Throughout my teaching career, I've successfully prepared students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations, with students achieving excellent results of 80% and above. Beyond exam preparation, I take pride in helping students build confidence, develop musical independence, and discover a genuine appreciation for music.

As a piano teacher, classroom educator, and children's choir conductor, I understand that every student learns differently. My lessons are personalized, engaging, and designed to make learning both enjoyable and rewarding.

Whether you're learning for fun or working toward RCM examinations, I'm here to help you achieve your musical goals!

About the lesson

About My Piano Lessons:
I believe learning piano should be fun, engaging, and rewarding! With over 12 years of piano teaching experience and a background in music education, I create personalized lessons that help students build confidence, develop musical skills, and discover the joy of playing.

My Teaching Approach:
Rather than simply memorizing notes and repeating exercises, I encourage students to explore music, ask questions, and develop their own problem-solving skills. Through interactive activities, musical games, and creative exploration, students learn not only how to play, but also how to practise effectively and become independent musicians.

What to Expect in My Lessons:
- Technique & Foundations: Develop good playing habits, coordination, and confidence.
- Music & Repertoire: Learn pieces that match students' interests, abilities, and goals.
- Music Theory & Sight-Reading: Build understanding through engaging activities and games.
- Creative Learning: Explore musical expression, listening skills, and creativity.

What Makes My Lessons Different?
- With a Bachelor of Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto (OISE), I combine professional teaching knowledge with musical expertise. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to their individual strengths, interests, and pace.

I welcome children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to intermediate students. Whether you're preparing for RCM examinations, learning your favourite songs, or simply playing for enjoyment, my goal is to make every lesson meaningful and enjoyable!
