About Beth
The relationship between the teacher and student is based on a common goal of achieving success but to reach this goal, there must be respect and trust between the two. That means development of a friendship in which the student feels comfortable with the teacher and can ask questions and discuss any issue on his/her mind. Likewise, the teacher will start each session with open conversation about things goings on in the student's life to allow time to get possible situations out in the open. The atmosphere between the two should be a free and open one and this creates a bond of mutual caring between them.

My curriculum is based on the Orton-Gillingham concept of teaching readin, which is a multi sensory approach to teaching that includes reading, spelling and handwriting in a combined lesson so children use visual, auditory and kinesthetic senses. This unified approach strengthens associations and automatic recall which results in word recognition, reading fluency and comprehension.
