About Leah

I hold a Master’s degree in Cognitive Science and have 7 years of experience teaching chess to students of all ages and levels. My teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, strategic awareness, and hands-on learning. I aim to create an engaging environment where learners feel confident experimenting, analyzing positions, and developing strong decision-making skills.

I design lessons according to the student’s level and goals. Beginners learn basic rules, tactics, and fundamental strategies; intermediate learners refine calculation, strategy, and endgame techniques; advanced students focus on competitive preparation, complex tactics, and mental resilience.

Each lesson includes exercises, practical play, and feedback to ensure growth and understanding. Outside teaching, I study chess literature, practice regularly, and analyze games to bring insights and contemporary methods to lessons. Helping students grow as analytical, strategic, and confident players is the most fulfilling part of my work.

About the lesson

My chess lessons focus on building a strong foundation in both strategic understanding and tactical skill. Students work on opening principles, middle-game strategies, endgame techniques, calculation skills, pattern recognition, and positional evaluation. Lessons combine theory, practical exercises, puzzle-solving, and game analysis to develop critical thinking, foresight, and disciplined problem-solving. I create a supportive and structured environment where learners feel encouraged to experiment, learn from mistakes, and develop both confidence and skill in their play.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s level. Beginners focus on basic rules, tactical motifs, piece movement, and simple endgames to establish solid fundamentals. Intermediate learners refine calculation, strategic planning, opening repertoire, and positional evaluation. Advanced students work on advanced tactics, opening theory, endgame mastery, tournament preparation, and psychological resilience. Every session includes interactive exercises, game analysis, and constructive feedback to ensure consistent progress and deep understanding.

The goal of my chess teaching is to cultivate strategic thinkers who can approach problems methodically and creatively. Students gain the ability to plan, analyze, and make effective decisions in a competitive and logical context. Lessons aim to develop both skill and confidence while maintaining enjoyment and curiosity for the game.
