About Валерия

Hi! I’m Valerie, and I know what it’s like to learn Mandarin from scratch—because I’ve done it myself.

After more than seven years of learning and teaching Chinese, I’ve discovered that Mandarin isn’t difficult—it’s simply different. Once you understand the logic behind the language, it becomes clear and enjoyable to learn.

Today I help children and adults build a strong foundation in Mandarin through structured, supportive, and engaging lessons.

About the lesson

I combine the communicative approach, the translation method, and lexical-grammar instruction to help students not only memorize Chinese but truly understand how the language works.

One of my core principles is teaching Chinese through Chinese whenever possible. Even beginners start hearing authentic Mandarin from the very first lessons, allowing them to build listening skills naturally and become comfortable with the language from day one.

I also follow the natural progression of language acquisition:

Listening → Speaking → Reading → Writing (听说读写)

Rather than rushing into characters, I help students develop a solid foundation first, making future learning much easier.

I place special emphasis on pronunciation because I believe it’s the foundation of successful Mandarin learning.

During the first lessons we carefully work on:

• Mandarin sounds

• tones

• mouth and tongue position

• pronunciation techniques

using clear visual diagrams and practical exercises.

Developing accurate pronunciation from the beginning helps students avoid habits that become difficult to correct later.

Instead of asking students to memorize characters one by one, I explain how the writing system actually works.

You’ll learn:

• strokes

• stroke order

• radicals

• character structure

• the logic behind Chinese writing

This makes learning characters much more intuitive and less intimidating.

Culture is part of every lesson

Language and culture cannot be separated.

Throughout our lessons you’ll also discover Chinese traditions, history, etiquette, everyday life, and cultural insights that help you understand not only how Mandarin works, but also why native speakers express themselves the way they do.
