In my opinion, Roxanne is a trustworthy teacher because she is kind, understanding, smart, and funny. Roxanne teaches in a very good manner, and logical sequence. She explains everything really well, and makes sure you understand the material being thought. If you don’t understand, she doesn’t judge you for it, but instead has empathy for you and explains it as many times as you need her to. She is really good at her job, and a really significant trait she has is how kind she is. She always helps you, listens to you, and you can always talk to her. She always listens to stories I have from what happened at school, or if I am telling her that I am struggling with understanding something in Chinese. She is also really funny, which makes her lessons way more interesting. She teaches in a very fun way, and even includes games in her lessons, which makes it fun to learn with her. Overall, she teacher really well, is kind, and very trustworthy for many reasons.

Roxanne is by far the best Mandarin teacher out there. She is much better than the ones in schools! Not only does she make learning super fun but she is also very nice. I began lessons with Roxanne hardly knowing how to read any Chinese characters. Over a few months, she taught me so much-- not only how to read and write better, but also facts about Chinese culture and popular idioms... and I scored a 5 on the AP Chinese exam thanks to her diligent instruction!

I have learned so much from the time I've been in her class. She's been helping me for around a month and we have learned countless characters, and the way she teaches is very engaging and allows for the best understanding.

Professor Roxanne has done an amazing job of creating lesson plans that build off each other each week. I go to China a lot and this has been the best learning structure for me personally. When I started last year with Roxanne, I only had a basic grasp of Mandarin. With her help, I became a lot more confident in starting and practicing conversations, and in less than a year, I’ve started exploring content in HSK 4. I really like that with Roxanne you can talk about what you struggle with, and she’ll focus more content on that weaker skill to strengthen it. Even when I want to explore a specific topic, we’ll have a part of our session to learn words associated with that topic. All around, she is a great teacher and I highly recommend if you want to improve your Chinese, or even just start your learning journey.

We found Roxanne through Superprof. We wanted to learn Chinese to prepare for a trip to Asia and to learn the language to help communicate with new friends. Roxanne has been so helpful in getting the basics right, but tailored her classes to lessons we would find useful on our language journey. Roxanne is really friendly, funny, and creative in her lessons. The focus is definitely on spoken Chinese which is perfect for us. Roxanne also has a lot of cultural knowledge and shares that to make the course richer and more engaging. I would highly recommend Roxanne to anyone wanted to start learning Chinese.

Roxanne has been my daughter’s favourite teacher for years! She perfectly tailors the classes towards the student’s needs, capabilities and all limitations such as eg. different time zones. She combines her expertise as a Chinese language teacher with her passion for drawing. Sometimes an output of the class is a well illustrated manual that makes it easier for kids (and not only) to absorb the knowledge. I would call it a “picaresque teaching method”.

It is my absolute pleasure to recommend Roxanne. She has incredible knowledge and methodologies that she adapts to you. -It is so sweet that she is also curious/interested in the language that you speak that she would learn words/ phrases in your language to encourage you to learn Chinese.
