About Chahat

I have been giving one to one lessons in Economics to university students for two years now. Mainly teaching microeconomics and macroeconomics courses to university undergrads and to those who have just passed school and want to take up Economics in Uni. I was also a full-time tutor for undergrads with University of Edinburgh teaching Microeconomics 1 and Issues in Global Economics courses in 2018.

About the lesson

After determining what help is needed to achieve the desired outcomes, the lesson is tailored to maximise learning and commitment:

Exam-focused lessons – Working through past papers is a key element of my exam-focused tutoring technique.
Flexible – I fully appreciate that sometimes you may need to move or miss a session. Your lessons can be re-arranged to a time that suits you.
Language- I am proficient in English, Hindi and Punjabi and therefore the lessons can be delivered in any of these languages. The ability to use more than one language allows me to communicate well with people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Charges – The charges are inclusive and start at £15/hr. Whatever is agreed as the price for first lesson will be guaranteed for the duration of your tuition.
No advance payments – You will be invoiced directly at the end of each calendar month. There are no other charges or extras.

Economics can be a very deductive subject, and economists are used to constructing complicated ‘models’ of human behaviour which begin with a number of assumptions. My approach to teaching the subject is that firstly, I make sure all my students understand the reasoning/logic behind these assumptions as these are the foundations for anyone wanting to delve deep into Economics. My teaching style is conversational and I explain economics concepts with real life examples which according to the feedback I have received, 'keeps the class interesting and engaging' . Did you know the best example of 'perfectly complementary goods' are your shoes ! You cannot wear the left without the right! Makes it easier to imagine those L-shaped demand curves, right?
