About Isabel
Hi! I'm Isabel, an incoming student at St. John's College with a lifelong passion for learning, teaching, and helping others reach their goals. I graduated with a 4.41 weighted GPA and challenged myself through rigorous coursework, including dual enrollment classes and college-level history courses through William & Mary.
I believe the best tutors don't just know their subject—they know how to connect with students. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. I tailor every lesson to the individual because no two students learn the same way.
Outside of academics, I've spent years teaching private violin lessons, mentoring younger students through 4-H leadership, and training extensively as both a musician and dancer. I completed Level 9 Music Theory through the Royal Conservatory of Music, earned a 35 on both the ACT English and Reading sections, and have trained at the Koresh School of Dance, the Kennedy Center Pre-Professional Program, and the Joffrey Ballet School.
Whether you're preparing for an exam, improving your writing, building confidence in public speaking, learning music theory, or developing your dance technique, I'm committed to helping you succeed. With over 16 years of dance experience, I strive to create lessons that are encouraging, challenging, and tailored to each student's individual goals. My training includes ballet, pointe, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop, with additional intensive study at the Koresh School of Dance, the Kennedy Center Pre-Professional Program, the Joffrey Ballet School, Paul Taylor, Jon Lehrer Dance Company, University of North Carolina School for the Arts, and much more.
Every lesson is personalized to the student's age, experience, and objectives. Whether you're stepping into your first dance class, preparing for an audition, refining your technique, or looking to improve flexibility, artistry, musicality, or performance quality, I will develop a lesson plan that meets your needs. A typical lesson may include a warm-up, technical exercises, across-the-floor combinations, choreography, and individualized feedback to help you progress efficiently and safely.
What sets me apart is my emphasis on both strong technique and artistic expression. I believe dance is about more than perfecting steps—it's about building confidence, developing discipline, and learning to communicate through movement. I create a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their progress.
I welcome dancers of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced students seeking extra coaching or audition preparation. Whether your goal is recreational enjoyment, competitive dance, or pre-professional training, I look forward to helping you grow as a dancer.
