Hello! Looking for fun lessons that teach a skill for life?

I've taught piano, music theory and composition for over 10 years, teaching in top UK schools (private and state), and have a 1st class degree in classical piano performance.

Specialising in adapting to each students needs, I work to build confidence at the piano and a true skill for life.

While many of my students are quite advanced (grade 8+), I do still take on beginner students looking to make fast progress and enjoy the process of becoming a young musician.

I mainly focus on the ABRSM exams as a base for progress, but I also adapt material and encourage students to write their own music in order to give them a rounded musical education.

p.s For those interested in specific teaching methods:

I use a combination of four critical methods: The socratic method, The Feynman Technique, Micro-practicing and spaced repetition. These techniques allow for students to make quick progress at any level by encouraging them to really understand the material.

These methods allow me to teach classical, jazz, pop, rock and more, while ensuring that students build a foundation of actual music knowledge.

About the lesson

For our first lesson, we work to understand our current skill set on the piano and set some goals for the future.

It's good to understand if we're looking to take exams, what the best learning method will be (reading music, ear training, theory or a combination) and what kind of music we'll be playing!

I teach classical and jazz, but also rock, pop, modern and music composition (as well as GSCE and A-Level music).

Often students need a mix of the above - some tunes to have fun with and some more challenging stuff to improve their abilities.
