About Kathryn
I have been practicing music my entire life. My first memories of performing are from when I was about 4, taking piano lessons and singing in my Presbyterian kindergarten's choir.
In middle and high school, I started concentrating more on my vocal talent by staying involved in groups like choir or theater club. I also joined the band (and later the marching band) where I played the flute, the piccolo, and the keyboard.
My tutors in college are the ones who truly shaped me as a vocalist. (Incidentally, my choir coach in high school was trained by the same people.) I was chosen for the college's 12-part acapella group and quickly ascended to a section leader position. We traveled around the state performing at churches, parades, and even at the State House for annual televised events. All the while, I also studied independently and competed in national competitions like NATS.
You'll find a vibrant, passionate music-lover in my lessons. I can't wait to start this journey with you!

Using a variety of unique breathing exercises, physical techniques, and learning to understand how the body produces sound, you can expect to spend an ample amount of our sessions warming up the voice and the body for performance. We will explore the vocal range and find music best suited to your strengths - but feel free to suggest any songs that you want to learn!
These sessions are intended for young adults (high school or undergraduate students) in the beginning to intermediate levels of their training.
