About Catherine Eliza Frew
I have a passion for seeing others succeed and reach their highest potential. I also understand learning is an individual matter and each person needs a customized structure in order to succeed. I have twelve years of professional teaching and curriculum writing experience in mathematics and American government and fourteen years' experience as a professional accountant. Along with my teaching experience, I also tutor individuals and mentor parents in how to teach their children at home through my mentoring website. I have bachelor's degrees in criminal justice and US history, minors in Middle East Studies, Arabic, accounting, business management, German, and a master's degree in American political history. I have received awards in graduate historical research, language fluency, and teaching.

The key to an individual's educational success is how well he/she develops the skills critical to learn how to learn.
I have developed techniques based on the Trivium method to 1) ascertain an individual's natural mode of absorbing, processing, and connecting bits of information to form coherent knowledge, and 2) utilize mathematical concepts as a means to facilitate progressive skill in computational and analytical reasoning.
A typical lesson plan encompasses a three-step process of reading comprehension, written explanation, and computation to learn and apply a mathematical concept accompanied by consistent oral, written, and practical evaluation to reinforce and strengthen skill in the learning process.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience and focus teaching children to learn HOW to learn: a skill that has been lost in schools. Once an individual develops the skills of how to learn, he/she is prepared to learn any concept, any subject, and succeed. The subject or concept is no longer the end result; it becomes a means to the end: the skill to learn anything at a high level of comprehension, explanation, and application.
I offer tutoring in arithmetic and mathematics for children ages three through eight years of age.
