BMus Opera and Vocal Studies - Royal Northern College of Music

MA Theatre Directing - Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

PGCE Secondary Music

Opera work includes: Victorian Opera, RNCM Opera.

Theatre includes: Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Evita.

Royal Northern College of Music trained classical singer, with lots of Musical Theatre experience. Experienced singing teacher, both group and 1-to-1 training.

About the lesson

Music theory tuition offered from Grade 1 through to diploma. ABRSM and Trinity both offered

Support with A level/GCSE/Btec Music, whether for theory, listening exams or composition skills.

I have taught AQA, Edexcel (both GCSE and A level) and Btec Tech Award in the last three years.

Anything musical can be offered through online learning. Zoom sessions, learning resources, and practice questions can be supplied.

Perfect! I had a really great time during my first lesson with Andrew, despite nerves he managed to get me singing in front of someone for the first time in forever, and actually hopeful that I can learn to sing well :) Andrew is clearly very knowledgable about all aspects of singing and music, and crucially is skilled at dropping in that knowledge in the moments when it makes sense to learn it. I'm looking forward to continuing lessons!

Kevin, you have a great understanding of musical structure, which is a very helpful tool for learning music. You also have a good understanding of language, and are able to fix vowels with minimal support (this is common in people who speak a second language, due to more varying vowel sounds). Some work on your support system would help to create equalised breath and the ability to sustain stronger notes, as well as support notes in the higher range of your voice.
