About Rachel
Now for the credentials! I began tutoring my peers in middle school where I achieved over a 4.0 GPA and ended 5th in my class. I also received an award in both English and Science for excellence in academia. I attended an academically prestigious high school where I continued to maintain a GPA above 4.0 every semester while tutoring peers. I graduated high school with 4 honors: summa cum laude, AP Scholar, California Scholar, and National Honor Society of Sports Medicine Scholar. I was accepted into a top 50 college with the Presidential Scholarship due to my academic excellence and have maintained a 3.74 GPA for the past 4 semesters. Throughout my college career, I've also become established in the professional research world! I've worked under my school's head of immunology, head of sport psychology, and currently have an internship with the highly regarded nonprofit, Mary's Center.

The foundation of our partnership is the fun and comfortable environment. Joking and smiling is encouraged and part of the learning process! At the end of the day, I want you to look forward to our sessions as much as I do! Lesson plans are individualized to each person, but each contains the following components: listening, questions, and application. The act of listening not only applies to us listening to each other's words, but listening to your own thought processes. Hearing thought processes out loud strengthens understanding and helps you catch your own incorrect processes! In sessions, both of us will be asking a variety of questions. Some may include knowledge checks, question rephrasing, and re-explanation. Finally, our sessions involve application-based learning. When you truly understand a concept, you should be able to apply it in any setting! I've worked with a variety of ages during my tutoring career, but I specialize in middle school to college level classes.
