About Claire
I am a current music and human ecology undergraduate student at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. I work at my college's writing center to help others draft, edit, or finalize their projects. In my free time I love creative and cross-cultural writing. I am passionate about the intersections of music, psychology, writing, language and culture learning.
I am also interested in pursuing a path in teaching, I see being a tutor as a meaningful way to develop skills in mentorship, communication, and community-based learning which would benefit me greatly.
I am fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese and have conversational Spanish skills. Navigating multiple languages and cultural contexts has shaped how I approach learning, thinking, and communication. It has helped me be more attentive to clarity, translation, and awareness.
I believe that no student is perfect, and that developed learning is shaped through many drafts, frustrations, celebrations, and (most importantly) hard work.

A Typical Lesson
First, we check in. What’s due? What feels impossible? We set specific goals for the session. Then we work together at our own pace. One problem at a time. There’s no such thing as too many questions or problems just some that have yet to be solved. Before the session is over we make sure to finish with a clear plan and goals for our next session.
