About Naomi
My life has been full of moving and adventures! My mom is Guadeloupean, and my dad is from French Ardèche from this small town called Chambon-sur-Lignon. I was born in New Jersey, and when I was 5, we moved to Paris, and then we moved back to the US when I was 7. Every summer I would go back to France for at least a month, and then I went to middle school in France. Otherwise, I received my formal education in the American system, all while receiving French lessons at home with my parents.
Thanks to my upbringing, I am fluent in French speaking, reading, and writing and just love French literature, arts, and culture --the French have some good values around family and spending time together-- I also am very aware of the struggles that Americans can face while learning French, because I have taught many of my American friends French (words like "cornichon" are just hard for an American to pronounce because of the different American phonics). This makes me uniquely suited to adapt my French lessons for American learners.
I received my Neuroscience degree at Columbia University in 2019 and am a part of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. I have trained 100s of people across the country, and tutored dozens.
I am currently a full time artist and singer-songwriter writing in French and English. You can find my music under my artist name NOAMZ!

I have over 10 years tutoring experience. I adapt my lesson plans based on my students learning preferences (i.e. visual, auditory, reading/writing, or intuitive).
We'll set a bimonthly goal that I will plan around to support the most effective and fun learning for my student.
A typical lesson plan is:
1) Check in on the previous weeks practice
2) Introduce or review concepts
3) Practice! (i.e. French conversation, writing out conjugations...)
4) Align on the following weeks practice
I can tutor beginner, intermediary, or advanced students, and can offer extra support for students currently in French class or students looking to learn fully through my lessons.
As a native speaker, I will simply adapt my French education to an American context to support you in learning this beautiful language!
