• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I am a native British person.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Great question! Definitely Sherlock Holmes. You can't completely figure him out on the surface, he is full of mystery and questions things knowing there is something greater than meets the eye and always has a fantastic story to be found! British people are great story tellers. Like Sherlock we also have our highs and lows and can get a little obsessed with things whether it's as you will probably know...talking about the weather! We also are very hardy and never give up!

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  I LOVE the smoothness of British. The way we speak is like a song. It's rhythm, emotion and the way the sound is produced in the mouth is like singing. It is very unique to other languages. A particular word that is realy satisfying to say is "serendipity". It;s a word that rolls of the tongue and has a cool meaning! 'Serendipity is an unplanned fortunate discovery. Serendipity is a common occurrence throughout the history of product invention and scientific discovery.'

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  It's the language I was born with and have grown up with my whole life. I used to be a very quiet speaker as a child everyone would ask me to repeat myself. It is something I have developed and grown myself. Thinking about It makes my heart glow. Our voice connects us with others and delivers our message to the world. Teaching English pronunciation and learning other languages has really made me appreciate it's unique quality for self-expression

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  A lot of words sound the same! Where, wear. There, their... this makes it a little confusing even for native speakers! Also that the words are often not pronounced how they are spelt. That's why in my lessons I write how words sound in brackets ( ) next to the word so students know how it sounds and can see the patterns in word sounds even if they are spelt differently.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  school.
  Oh gosh! I have many. I was very good at school and also a little mischievous. I didn't like doing my homework! I used to hide in the toilets from my Drama teacher! I am a visual learner so it is harder for me to read books and work with grammar terms they're just not interesting for my brain! As a result of this I am passionate about making learning fun, simple and effective.When I teach grammar terms I use real life examples otherwise we can get stuck on the terms in our mind and not speaking the language itself. During my second year of university I studied in Germany. I did 2 intensive beginners language course and failed the second test! I was still terrified to speak in the shop after 6 months when the check out assistant asked me if I wanted a carrier bag,
  
  From what I have learnt and heard from all students is our schools and language courses often make it far too complicated. Learning should be simple, fun and effective! After completing university I returned to Germany but with very different results! I did self study and studied polyglot strategies to learn the language quickly without a course and this time I became FLUENT in 6 months. From this I know how to learn a language quickly and share this with my students.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Traveling around the world and interacting with people from all walks of life and cultures has highlighted it's unique qualities. English people have a unique way of communicating and sense of humour that plays with the language, We make jokes using sound and word stress and can be very playful with conveying emotion and meaning. It has also brought me into the most amazing discussions about subjects I didn't know about and have learnt new vocabulary and ways of speaking English.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  I love it. I really do. Languages are so much fun! They unlock a whole world for us. Language contains various parts of communication which allow us to connect with others and express ourselves in the world. Learning and teaching languages is something I have had a unique journey with and enjoy developing everyday. With my passion and experience I am able to teach anyone from any country who wants to improve their English accent and speaking skills. It has truly changed some of students lives. At the moment I am learning more about voice tone and conveying emotion . Something I listened to recently spoke about Activists Martin Luther King's speech 'I have a dream'. In this speech he uses specific metaphors, tone and cadence to convey his message in a way people truly understand. They highlighted if he had said it in a different way it would not have had the impact it has had for this world. And today this speech has reached the lives of millions of people in our world.
