About Nija
I've tutored dozens of students in English, essay writing, and standardized test preparation. My teaching philosophy is that the student's needs always come first, and I want my students to feel comfortable telling me where they struggle and what they want to accomplish.
I graduated with a degree in Communications, and have worked with the written word in various capacities. Reading and writing is a passion of mine as well as a source of joy, and I love being able to help students find their own joy in reading and writing.

I have experience teaching essay writing, including college essays, as well as various levels of English, from elementary-school to AP Literature, for a national tutoring company.
As a teacher, I believe in meeting students where they're at, identifying their struggle areas, and coming up with a plan to address those issues.
I assess what is most important for the student (passing a midterm, improving their grades, reviewing material they didn't understand) and move forward with that goal in mind while also instilling great study skills that they can utilize going forward.
