About Jordy

I have a degree in German as a Foreign Language and have been working as a German teacher for 10 years. During all this time I have given German classes from A1 to C1 both in Germany and abroad and have taught students from over 20 nationalities, for example from Brazil, England, Australia, China, Japan, France, Russia, Italy, South Africa, Nigeria, Colombia, Argentina, the USA, etc. I have successfuly prepared many of them for different language exams such as the Goethe-Zertifikat A1-B2 or the telc A1-B2. Moreover, I have gained a lot of experience working in different language schools, such as the Goethe-Institut, and started giving online lessons even before the coronavirus pandemic. Besides German, I am fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese and am able to speak a little bit of Italian, French and Dutch. ;) My lessons are very communicative, fun and based on your wishes! Lesson topics can be, FOR EXAMPLE:

- Vocabulary and idioms
- Conversation on the phone, in presentations and in meetings
- Writing emails and letters
- Pronunciation
- Grammar (alternating prepositions, adjective declination, articles, modal verbs, prepositions, etc.)

About the lesson

I use different methods, but work always on the four language skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. For me, it´s importat to see what type of learner you are in order to prepare the lessons according your needs and wishes. In my opinion, the communicative method is excellent to learn a new language. That´s why in my lessons we´ll work with role-plays of (your) every day life, in order for you to improve your communication skills at work, in your studies or just while getting something from the bakery, etc. Are you having trouble with grammar issues? No problem! We repeat meaningful and simple sentences until it becomes automatic, and I will then explain the grammar behind them. This means that you will only get an explanation after you have already used the grammar correctly. So you can understand the grammar better and faster and why not even become a good friend of hers. ;) The most important thing in class is that you learn German and have fun! I make the lessons very varied and use videos, music as well as games to keep your motivation high and to bring you closer to the German language and culture.

Perfect! I took lessons from Jordy for over a year and I would totally recommend him as a teacher. Jordy picked up my preferred style and we went through a variety of exercises; he could adapt to classes outside the standard textbooks. He was always prepared, professional and positive.

Perfect! I am writing this recommendation in English as most people wanting to learn German would prefer it. I had the recent privilege to work with Jordy to prepare me for taking…and hopefully passing…the Goethe B1 test. Jordy’s teaching style was immediately recognizable as someone who likes to teach. I had some basic prior knowledge of German but hadn’t utilized the language in over 6 years. What I found incredibly useful was that he tailored his teaching to what I didn’t know yet and brushed up concepts that I knew but had forgotten. We practiced a lot of things that I would need to know for the exam and he gave me extremely valuable tips for each of the 4 sections in the exam, which was very useful. In the 1 month and a few days that I learnt with Jordy, a very pleasant experience, I can proudly say that I passed the B1 Goethe exam. The ease of his teaching me German has now motivated me to continue to learn the language. If there were more stars to give, I definitely would have and I highly recommend him to anyone wanted to learn German. Thank you Jordy!
