About Joyce

Growing up as a low-income, first generation student, I was always told that education was the way out of poverty. To get into a college, I had to be a competitive candidate. During high school, I consistently volunteered and was awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award, earned 2 internships (one paid and another academically credited), completed several Advanced Placement courses, and entered the Early Admissions program of my community college.

Among all of these accomplishments, I founded and became president of several student organizations, leading to a high increase of community service within my high school. Because of my rigorous work in high school, completing the college application in common app felt daunting. I didn't know what to place in there, how to order it, what was more important for an admissions officer?

So I watched as many Ivy League YouTube videos, connected with Ivy League admissions officers for insight, and coordinated meetings with other universities' officers to see what they were looking for in their applicant pools.

After much research, completing my own application, getting accepted, and now after one year of undergraduate and working with the admissions office of my own university as my federal work study, I now grasp the college admissions process thoroughly.

I offer my knowledge to my students through weekly meetings, notes, ideas, essay templates, and other advice or documents that the student can request from me that I can grant to the best of my ability. With my help, the student will have a much higher and much more competitive chances of getting into the universities they want to enter.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Joyce, I’m a English Literature and Finance major with a minor in Business Analytics!

This lesson is meant to prepare students for the college admissions process. It encompasses every aspect of it from test prep for the SAT and ACT, to developing passion projects and extracurriculars, to working with academics. This also includes working with searching and applying for financial aid, scholarships, grants, and awards!

I always start with an introductory meeting discussing about myself, my background, and how I best can help the student. From there, I learn a bit more about the student and seeing how we can work together so the student gets into an Ivy League university!

Afterwards, if the student agrees to be my student after clicking from the introductory meeting, we move onward a plan of action!

By doing this, the student will most certainly achieve their goals and I get to see them fulfill what they want!!!

For the college essay templates, I charge an extra $10 per document sent to the student as I spent countless hours to ensuring these work for myself and for my students.

For other documents (like the common app's activities writing template or the resume template), I charge an extra $5 per document sent to the student as I spent countless hours to ensuring these work for myself and for my students.

I am also willing to negotiate prices with students upon an emailed request.
