About Chris

My experiences and how they can help….
·I have gained 17 years secondary school teaching experience, within several schools including being head of Computer Science and ICT departments
·I have a proven track record of improving results, by combining careful personalised plan with targeted intervention.
·I have successfully taught students from various background and abilities, which has given me the essential experience required to communicate at the correct level, pitch and pace.
·I have access to resources and am able cherry pick the most relevant, including past papers and exam revision guides.
·I have efficiently delivered controlled assessments and am able to use the concepts of code to assist in the teaching and learning of theory papers.
·I have marked for exam boards, so have good knowledge of exam criteria and the key language used in exam questions.
·I have trained medical personal and am able to relate this industry experience to my teaching where beneficial.
·I have taught Maths up to GCSE level within several schools.
·I am fully DBS checked and registered with the online update service.
·During lockdown I also spent several months teaching KS2 to my son. This has given me an insight into primary school teaching and the transition to KS3.

My aims and approach

Teaching is my passion. I am able to provide personalised tutoring sessions to help develop a students knowledge and understanding, no matter what their ability is or areas that they require help with.
I have a logical and structured approach to problem solving, and a clear and friendly approach explaining it.
I make Computer Science and Maths enjoyable and I am able to relate the concepts, where possible, to real world examples.

How we can work together

Whether it’s a one-off lesson or a series of lessons, consider what you will hope to achieve.
·Is it to develop or recap your understanding of a specific area?
·Is it to simplify the subject as a whole and try and de-tangle the myths?
·Is it to push on to the next level across the whole subject area?
Once we have established a starting point, I can then produce a personalised plan that can be modified to ensure that the student gets the most out of each session.
