About Arron

I’m an experienced tutor with a first class degree in Computer Science (with an AI focus) from the University of Manchester. Alongside my studies, I developed a strong passion for teaching and mentoring, having taught students at secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels studying at a number of institutions.

My lessons are clear, structured, and tailored to each student's level and goals, whether you're preparing for exams, catching up on coursework, or exploring programming for fun. I focus on making complex ideas approachable and showing how computing connects to real-world technology and creative problem-solving.

Alongside tutoring, I've worked as a software engineer developing cutting-edge AI technology, which allows me to bring practical, modern examples into my lessons.

Outside of computing, I'm passionate about music, cooking, and visual art. These creative outlets balance my technical side and shape how I teach. My goal is to help every student not only master the material but also build curiosity and confidence that go beyond the classroom.

Having experienced the full spectrum of the education system myself, I understand how challenging certain concepts can be, and that no single approach works for everyone. This insight has shaped my empathetic, student-centred teaching style.

For the younger learner I offer support on the complete range of GCSE and A level Computer Science topics for all major exam boards and can also help with extra curricular or personal projects you are working on.

I’m DBS certified and SEN-friendly, drawing on my own neurodivergent experience to create a supportive and flexible learning environment. I understand that every student learns differently, and I’m patient in finding the right approach for you.

For older students I offer tuition of the core computing undergraduate modules as well as specialised tuition on AI and machine learning topics.

Here is a list of the topics I cover:

Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning:
-Machine learning fundamentals (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning)
-Neural networks and deep learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
-Model evaluation, optimisation, and interpretability
-Data preprocessing and feature engineering
-Programming in Python for ML (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
-Coursework guidance, code review, and project structuring
-Applied AI topics — computer vision, NLP, and generative AI
-Research skills — understanding academic papers, experiment design, and reproducibility

Core Computer Science (Undergraduate Level):
-Algorithms and data structures
-Fundamentals of computation
-Logic and modelling
-Computational game theory
-Natural language processing
-Knowledge-based AI
-Software engineering principles and design patterns
-Databases and SQL
-Operating systems and computer architecture

Programming Languages & Tools:

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first experience with a computer dates back to the early 2000s, on our family’s bulky Windows XP machine. Even though it was old at the time, I was fascinated by exploring its various applications and features — many of which don’t exist anymore. When I first opened Internet Explorer and discovered the vast world behind it, I was completely captivated.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

I believe one of the most significant technological evolutions was the release of the iPhone. While the underlying technology wasn’t revolutionary on its own, its integration into a simple, portable, and user-friendly device transformed how the modern world communicates, accesses information, and interacts with technology.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I hold a BSc in Computer Science and have experience programming in several languages, particularly Python. My areas of expertise include software development, machine learning, and large language models. What fascinates me most about computer science is its blend of creativity and logic — it allows us to build tools that solve real-world problems and expand human capability.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

While figures like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg are undeniably pivotal to the tech industry, they aren’t my main sources of inspiration. I’m more inspired by scientists such as Alan Turing, whose work on breaking the Enigma code and developing the concept of the Turing Machine laid the foundation for modern computing. Outside of computer science, I’m deeply inspired by the musician Kate Bush, whose fearless self-expression has helped me embrace creativity and individuality in my own work.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my A Level Computer Science course, we were tasked with creating a major project that contributed to our final grade. I decided to develop a platforming game in Unity using C#, despite having no prior experience with either. After many challenges and late nights, I managed to complete the project to a high standard. The experience taught me that with determination and curiosity, you can achieve far more than you initially believe possible.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

I’d tell them that computer science often seems complicated from the outside, but at its core, it’s about breaking big problems into smaller, simpler ones. Every concept can be understood step by step, and once the fundamentals are clear, everything starts to make sense. With the right guidance and mindset, anyone can learn it.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

Outside of computing, I’m passionate about food and music. I love experimenting with dishes from different cuisines and have developed a good understanding of various cooking techniques. Music is another major part of my life — I play several instruments, write my own songs, and enjoy attending live performances whenever I can.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I believe what makes me a Superprof in IT is my combination of formal education, real-world experience, and a strong ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Having recently been a student myself, I understand the challenges learners face. I’m a confident programmer across multiple languages, and I take pride in simplifying difficult concepts so that students can build both understanding and confidence.
