About Hoi

I am an award-winning concert pianist and a dedicated music educator bringing seven years of experience in both performance and teaching. Holding a Master of Performance from the Royal College of Music under full scholarship, and a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status, I am deeply committed to motivating students to pursue musical excellence.

I teach because I am passionate about helping learners of all abilities reach their full potential within a safe and positive environment. My commitment to high standards is reflected in my students' exceptional track records: my academic pupils have secured Grade 9s at GCSE and 100% A*-A grades at A-Level, while my practical students have successfully gained entry into prestigious conservatoires, including the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Whether you are a complete beginner pianist taking your very first steps, or an advanced musician preparing for high-stakes national competitions, I view tutoring as a collaborative partnership. My goal is to inspire confidence, nurture your technique, and ensure you feel completely supported every step of the way.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology: My approach is highly personalised and adaptive, empowering students across the entire ability spectrum. When teaching practical piano, I act as a coach, working collaboratively to improve your breathing, phrasing, stage presence, and technical composure. I also integrate professional-grade digital tools—such as Logic Pro, Sibelius, and Soundtrap—to help students master composition and produce coursework of a conservatoire standard. For academic tutoring (Music GCSE/A-Level), I use live keyboard demonstrations to make abstract harmonic progressions audible and engaging.

Qualifications & Experience: I hold a Master of Performance in Piano from the Royal College of Music and a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status. As a current Teacher of Music at a leading independent school and an award-winning international piano soloist, I have a strong track record of musical and academic success. Recently, my GCSE students secured Grade 9s, and my A-Level cohort achieved 100% A*-A grades.

Who the Lessons are For: I have extensive experience working with students of different ages, ethnicities, and abilities. My lessons are perfectly suited for complete novices taking their first steps, academic students studying the AQA, Eduqas, or Edexcel syllabuses, and elite musicians preparing for national competitions or conservatoire auditions.
