About Joel

Having been learning the piano for ~8 years, acoustic guitar for 5 years, electric for 3 years, and drums for 2 years, I have grown accustomed to playing a variety of styles, focusing on mainly modern styles. Also having played in a church band for 6+ years, I play flexibly to suit the moment (playing by ear), specialising particularly in worship piano/synths.

I'm quick to suggest ideas, and telling students why they work, and also ideas that people can understand very easily

About the lesson

Having been teaching people for 2+ years, from a place of getting started to understanding fundamentals, applying them across a vast range of musical styles, boosting confidence in abilities and even now having friends recommend me to teach, my teaching style is very patient yet effective, providing a safe space to go wrong without judgement, whilst keeping track of things I teach to progress quickly.

To teach is also to inspire, and I have firm belief that anyone can achieve any level of expertise if they put their mind to it. The style I teach would help make someone a well-rounded player, and have special skills in playing by ear, playing on the spot, by accompaniment or alone, there is definitely something I can improve. Lessons will feel tangible, students in the past having credited me for a very down-to-earth style of learning, and no time wasting with feedback and responses.

So it's not a matter of how... it's a matter of when. Are you ready to elevate skills to a whole new level? Whether you are trying to pick up the pieces with music, or striving to pursue greater, I think I can provide an invaluable impact to the journey!
