About Kodi

I'm Kodi. My pronouns are they/them and I've been singing for over 25 years. I've taught music lessons to all kinds of people in Australia, Indonesia and Canada. I'm super passionate about folks feeling safer in their bodies, and the joy that can be felt when someone expresses their voice. I have a Bachelor's in Contemporary Music majoring in Vocal Performance and Audio Production, an Honors in composition, and a post grad cert in Jazz Vocal Performance. I have studied at Southern Cross Uni, University of New Orleans, and Institute of the Arts, Denpasar. My vocal teachers have included Kristin Berardi, Michelle Nicole, Leigh Carriage and Anita Wardell. I have recorded 3 studio projects and toured 3 different projects internationally. My first instrument was euphonium (very cool!!), but I am most advanced in Vocals, with training in piano and some self-taught bass guitar. I have been trained in Trauma Informed Practice, social justice frameworks in yoga, have 400hrs of Yoga Teacher Training and was working as an aerial yoga teacher in Australia. All these trainings inform my approach in teaching music. We have a body, we use the body, and we are much more than our bodies.

About the lesson

Let's sing! Or maybe you want to understand music and write better songs! Let's do it. I can help you with vocals pitch, tone, breathing, range, agility, musicality, timing, delivery. I can help you with musicianship, band leading, notation, harmonizing, building your songwriting, breaking habits and making new ones. I've worked with voices that quietly shake, voices that crack, voices that are still learning how to say their truth. They're all invited into the room. Singing is linked to feeling grounded in your body, and we will go through tools to help achieve that - so you can sing with ease, confidence and joy. I'll sometimes be using a piano to accompany and demonstrate concepts. All levels, all ages, all genders, all folks. Lessons are in English. I'm Kodi.
