About Norwood
For the past 11 years, I have been teaching piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults. My experience has taught me that every student has unique strengths and learning styles, and I tailor my lessons accordingly.
My teaching philosophy emphasises discipline, clarity, and inspiration. I focus on building strong technical skills such as scales, rhythm control, finger independence, and sight-reading accuracy. I also encourage students to explore musical expression and develop their own artistic voice.
I create goal-based lesson plans and provide regular feedback to ensure steady progress. I guide students in effective practice strategies so they can improve efficiently at home. Many of my students have shown remarkable growth and have performed confidently in public settings.
Teaching piano is not just about mastering an instrument; it is about building resilience and self-confidence. My mission is to guide students towards musical excellence while creating a supportive and motivating learning environment.

My piano lessons focus on communication, creativity, flexibility, and strong fundamentals. I create a supportive environment where students feel motivated to learn. I clearly demonstrate techniques and explain musical ideas in small, manageable steps.
Communication helps students understand how to improve effectively. Creativity keeps learning enjoyable, so I include interpretation exercises and simple improvisation. Flexibility allows me to adjust the pace of lessons based on each student’s needs.
I also teach related subjects such as music reading, harmony, ear development, and basic composition. My goal is to build technical accuracy while developing emotional expression in every student.
